Yering Primary School is located on the Melba Hwy, Yering, just 2 km north of Coldstream towards Yarra Glen. The school was established in 1869 and from its inception has had a strong and ongoing relationship with the surrounding communities of the Yarra Valley.

The School’s urban fringe location provides a diverse student body coming from working farms, vineyards and orchards, smaller hobby farms and the urban areas of Coldstream, Yarra Glen, Lilydale and Chirnside Park. This diversity means Yering Primary School has a very strong and active parent community, with a diverse range of skills and expertise. These skills have helped enrich our school and been invaluable in the area of fundraising, major projects, acquiring resources, ongoing maintenance and in supporting school programs.

We take pride in offering a stimulating educational setting for families seeking a unique small school environment. We offer parents an alternative to larger local schools through small multi-age grades and an open door policy where parents are encouraged to participate in and become part of  school life. Parental participation is highly valued, contributing to many aspects of the teaching program and school community. The parent involvement has resulted in programs and facilities that far exceed the expectations of a typical small school.

Yering Primary School is part of the Wollombi Cluster, a group of 10 small Yarra Valley schools, who combine for a wide range of activities such as inter-school sports carnivals and competitions, cultural activities, camps and grade 6 transition programs to further enrich each students educational experience.
