Overview
Mount Donna Buang Lookout Tower rises to a height of 1245 metres, Mt Donna Buang offers panoramic views, snow play and tobogganing in winter and the Rainforest Gallery part way up the mountain with its spectacular skywalk aerial walkway through the tree tops.
At an elevation of 1245 metres, the summit features a lookout tower which is 21 metres high and offers panoramic views over Melbourne, the Yarra Valley, Dandenong and Cathedral Ranges, Mount Baw Baw and the Alps. It is also a popular picnic area and starting point for walks on the mountain.
The picnic area has gas barbecues, fireplaces, picnic tables, toilets and a lookout.
Car parking is available at the summit through the day, however the summit gate is locked in the evening and when there is snow. At these times car parking is available at the gate and the summit can be accessed by a 300 metre walk along the road.
Winter snow play
In winter the summit area turns to snow play. Three toboggan runs open when there is adequate snow on the mountain.
Please note the following when planning your winter visit:
- Donna Buang Road can be extremely busy during snow season. Please drive carefully. Delays may be encountered.
- Donna Buang Road may close at any stage if conditions become hazardous or if the summit carparks are full.
- Toboggan hire is generally available at the summit. No other equipment or clothing is available f
You can drive your car to the base of the tower and use the car park adjoining. Take a picnic meal and drinks as there are no facilities at the top except toilets and a picnic shelter.
It is a 30 minute drive from Warburton and during winter there is a snow covering. Offering a picnic shelter, toilets and a toboggan run during winter. You can walk down from the top to the 10 mile car park which offers a quiet walk through the stunning bush of the Great Dividing Range.
