Donnellys Weir forms both the start and finish of the Bicentennial National Trail.

Facilities include picnic rotunda, gas bbq and toilets.  The creek in front of the weir is shallow for children to splash in and can be viewed from the picnic rotunda.  To get to the picnic spot you will need to drive your car through a shallow fjord but keep to the right side of the road on the way out as this side is not deep whilst the left hand side can stall your car.

A variety of walks from the picnic area cater for both casual and longer distance walkers.

Donnellys Weir Picnic Area is open daily at the following times:

• 1 December to 31 January – 8:00am to 9:00pm
• 1 February to end of daylight saving (first Sunday in April) – 8:00am to 8:00pm
• End of daylight saving (first Sunday in April) to 30 April – 8:00am to 6:00pm
• 1 May to 31 August – 8:00am to 5:00pm
• 1 September to start of daylight saving (first Sunday in October) – 8:00am to 6:00pm
• Start of daylight saving (first Sunday in October) to 30 November – 8:00am to 8:00pm
