De Bortoli Wines Yarra Valley Estate was established in 1989, following the purchase of the estate in 1987 by the De Bortoli family. The estate is managed by third generation Leanne De Bortoli and her husband, De Bortoli Chief Winemaker Steve Webber. Together they have built a successful estate based on the family traditions of warm hospitality and a passion for creating interesting and delicious wine and food.

The family’s goal was to expand into the world renowned Yarra Valley whilst further extending the company’s offerings to it’s customers. Leanne fondly describes her reaction when Managing Director (and her brother) Darren De Bortoli proposed they manage the project, “I remember we were so excited to be asked,” says Leanne. “The plan was to make a range of premium wines and develop the vineyard as well as oversee the development of a new cellar door and restaurant complex.”
